What to do if you find out that your WhatsApp has been hacked?, when you open WhatsApp in the morning, you see messages that you did not send. This clearly means that your account has been taken over by hackers. In such a situation, it is very important to take the right steps on time without panicking, so that you can protect yourself before major damage occurs.

The first thing to do is to immediately tell all your contacts that your account has been compromised. This will make them not trust any suspicious messages asking for money or personal information. Along with this, immediately go to the settings and check the linked devices. If you see WhatsApp Web or any other unknown device login, log out of it immediately.

This is the most important solution to completely remove the hacker's control. Log out of WhatsApp from your phone and log in again. When you re-login, you will receive a verification code via SMS on your number. Entering this code will automatically disconnect the hacker's old session. If the hacker tries to log in again, he will need the verification code, which only you have.

Report without delay for legal and technical assistance. Ask for help by providing detailed information about your situation on the email ID support@whatsapp.com. In India, you can immediately file an online complaint by calling 1930 or through the official cybercrime website.

If you suspect that your SIM has been swapped or the mobile number has been transferred to another person, then this is the most serious situation. Contact your network operator immediately and get the SIM blocked/recovered. Often, hackers hack the account by gaining control of the SIM.
6 / 7
Once you get your account back, turn on the 'two-step verification' feature and set a PIN for future security. Not only WhatsApp, but also change the password of all services connected to WhatsApp like Gmail or other social media accounts immediately. Keep an alert on your bank account and UPI apps and take immediate action on any unauthorized transactions.
7 / 7
Awareness is the best security. Don't click on any unknown links, don't share your OTP with anyone, and check your linked devices regularly. If you act with a cool head and quickly, you can avoid big losses
