Amaravati, Nov 16 Andhra Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state President Somu Veerraju on Monday assured that the central government will definitely complete the Polavaram project.

"The central government will definitely build Polavaram. It is a national project; you (political parties) are unnecessarily creating a controversy," said Veerraju.

He also said that the height of the Polavaram project will not be reduced. His remarks follow claims by certain quarters that its height will be reduced that could lead to deprivation of water to some places.

The Polavaram project is a multi-purpose irrigation project coming up on the Godavari river in West Godavari and East Godavari districts in Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the BJP leader also lashed out at a Telugu daily's editor for his articles and challenged him to talk to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national President Nara Chandrababu Naidu and bring Bhadrachalam, a temple town in Telangana, to Andhra Pradesh.

He alleged that the editor did not know to which state Bhadrachalam or the seven Mandals of Kunavaram, VR Puram, Chintoor, Nellipaka, Veleripadu, Burgampadu and Kukunoor belonged to.

"He is writing meaningless articles. The BJP demands that his statements be taken back," said Veerraju.

Meanwhile, Raghunadha Babu, another state BJP leader, said he met Naidu along with Veerraju on June 2, 2014 to discuss that these seven Mandals should become part of Andhra Pradesh before the state's bifurcation.

However, he claimed, Naidu had no clue about the seven Mandals and why these should be part of Andhra Pradesh.

Veerraju said Naidu was scheduled to take oath as the Chief Minister six days from that day on June 8, 2014.

The southern state is witnessing accusations and counter-accusations on Polavaram project among the BJP, TDP and YSR Congress Party.
