Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], June 17 : Asserting that Chhattisgarh Government may consider banning of movie 'Adipurush' in theatres in the state according to the public demand, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the selection of words in the film's dialogues are "objectionable and of low-level".

"Public is watching this and if a demand will be raised to ban the movie then it will be considered," CM Baghel said while speaking to media in Raipur on Saturday.

Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party and other right-wing outfits for keeping their lips tight over controversy associated with the movie 'Adipurush', Baghel said, "First the photo of lord Ram and Hanuman were distorted and now, they (without naming anyone) are making them (character of lord Ram and Hanuman in the movie) to use such words, if current generation will watch it what impact will it put on them."

He further said that in the films, such words have been used for lord Hanuman which are used by the Bajrang Dal.

"Those, who shut theatres as well as set them on fire over minor issues, are silent nowadays, CM Baghel mocked (right-wing outfits with taking their name) and further elaborated that lord Hanuman (character in the movie) was made using such words which are being used by people of Bajrang Dal," the CM said.

Coming down heavily on the parties that claim to be "custodians of religion", Baghel said, "This is highly objectionable and I strongly condemned it. I want to ask the people of the so-called political party, who claimed them as custodians of religion, are still silent on this issue."

Chhattisgarh CM further said that the face of lord Hanuman is being showcased as an "Angry Bird" and added that neither our forefathers imagined Hanuman ji in this way nor society will accept this today.

The CM further claimed that Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of the country asked Ramanand Sagar to make a Ramayan serial which became very popular among the masses.

"Today, attempts are being made to control everything. Once Mumbai film city was not under anyone's control and made films on special events in the society, politics or social issues but a bid is being made to pressurize the industry in the name of 10 grams of Cannabis. As a result of the ongoing situation, film directors, actors and writers have to work as per the instruction of Delhi," he added.

Helmed by Om Raut, and produced by Bhushan Kumar the film is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana and stars Prabhas as Lord Ram, Kriti Sanon as Sita, and Sunny Singh as Lakshman. In the movie, Saif Ali Khan is seen essaying the role of Ravan.
