Amaravati, Jan 7 BJP national secretary and Andhra Pradesh co-in-charge Sunil Deodhar said on Thursday that he was restrained from visiting Ramateertham in Vizianagaram where an idol of Lord Ram was defaced by miscreants recently.

"I am stopped from visiting Ramateertham. AP CM is instigating 'Ram versus Rome' in AP," claimed Deodhar.

He also alleged that BJP state unit president Somu Veerraju was manhandled by the police, causing him to faint.

"Ahiravan Vijaysai Reddy and Mahiravan Nara Chandrababu Naidu were allowed darshan (visit) of Ram. Kauravas can but Pandavas can't have 'darshan'," said Deodhar, drawing a Mahabharat analogy.

S. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, AP BJP general secretary questioned if they do not have the right to visit the temple as representatives of a national party.

"Feels like we are in Pakistan even as the government is not bothering when many temples are being attacked," Reddy claimed.

A few BJP leaders from across the country shared a video in which Veerrajju was allegedly seen fainting.

"What loss will Jagan Mohan Reddy suffer if we visit Ramateertham. Why YSRCP party is blocking BJP which is building a Ram temple?" asked Veerraju.

He highlighted how Vijaysai Reddy and Naidu got permission to visit the temple, demanding that the state government should allow BJP leaders and activists too.
