The ongoing inter-party disputes in various states of the country doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon. While party stalwarts have recently tried to cover up the dispute between Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu, there are signs of a major split in the Congress in another state. In Manipur in the northeastern states, the Congress is likely to face a major setback, with at least eight MLAs from the party expected to join the BJP on Tuesday, as per reports.  Not only that, but Congress state president in Manipur Govindas Conthojam has also resigned.

Assembly elections will be held in Manipur early next year. The big split in the party even before this election has increased the challenges facing the Congress. Congress state president in Manipur Govindas Conthojam has resigned, adding to the party's woes. Canthojam was elected six times from Vishnupur Assembly constituency. He was given the post of state president of Manipur in December 2020.

Meanwhile, the BJP has also made some party reshuffles in Manipur. BJP has handed over the responsibility of Manipur state president to Shardadevi. The party's national general secretary Arun Singh confirmed this while BJP national president J.P. Nadda had said that Shardadevi's name was approved. The state BJP post has been lying vacant after the death of Prof. S Tikendra Singh, who succumbed to Covid-19 on May 13 at a hospital in Imphal.

Meanwhile, the ongoing party infighting in various states has further weakened the Congress party organization. Though the party leadership has settled the dispute in Punjab, the Congress leadership's headaches are mounting due to occasional disputes in Rajasthan and other states.
