Modi lauds efforts to contain spread of coronavirus

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday tweeted to laud the efforts made to control the spread of coronavirus in the country.

New Delhi, March 16 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday tweeted to laud the efforts made to control the spread of coronavirus in the country.

His series of tweets came in response to those from different people, describing their positive experience vis-a-vis screenings for the virus at airports following their return from abroad.

The Prime Minister's tweet in response to a netizen's experience at the airport in Bengaluru on his return from Sri Lanka read: "Responsible citizens can add great strength to the fight against COVID-19."

Some of the other tweets from the Prime Minister's Twitter handle also expressed confidence that the ongoing efforts would help the country immensely with the support and cooperation of the people.

"I am sure our citizens will not do anything that puts the lives of others in danger. #IndiaFightsCorona"

"Our doctors, nurses, healthcare workers are putting in great efforts. They are out there, helping people. We will always cherish their contribution. #IndiaFightsCorona"

"Doing our best to ensure everyone is healthy and those showing symptoms get proper care. #IndiaFightsCorona"

"It is a united and coordinated response from everyone. This shows the strong spirit of our nation in such situations. #IndiaFightsCorona"

On Sunday, the Prime Minister had participated in videoconferencing with SAARC leaders on fighting coronavirus.

The number of coronavirus positive cases in India has risen to 110, with two deaths so far.
