Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana on Friday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the world's largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad was renamed as "Narendra Modi Stadium". Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana termed the naming of the stadium as an insult to Sardar Patel.

The editorial titled ‘Garaj Saro, Patel Maro’, Saamana said that the PM always said the tallest statue of Sardar Patel was built as Congress insulted him but now, it is clear who is trying to insult Sardar Patel.

“It is clear who is trying to erase Patel's name. Modi is great. There is no doubt but if Modi devotees think that he is greater than Patel, Gandhi, Nehru or Indira Gandhi then it is nothing but blind devotion.

Further the editorial slammed the BJP saying the people has elected the party but it hasn't given them a license to be careless.PM should not be blamed for what happened said editorial, “He is a fakir and will go to the forest or the Himalayas with his belongings,” it added.

The important place of Patel has come to an end, tomorrow Netaji Bose will come to an end, it said.

President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the newly-built Motera Stadium which was renamed the Narendra Modi Stadium ahead of the pink-ball Test between India and England. The stadium is the biggest cricket stadium in the world as it has a total capacity of 1,32,000 and all the facilities have been taken care of.
