Lucknow, Dec 21 In an effort to counter the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) ongoing 'Kisan Sammelans', the Samajwadi Party (SP) is set to organise a special drive on December 25 during which its leaders will visit villages across Uttar Pradesh and make people aware about the "anti-farmer policies" of the BJP-led governments.

SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said party leaders will go to villages and hold 'chaupals' (meetings) with farmers.

"SP MPs and MLAs will lead the 'Samajwadi Kisan Ghera' campaign. The leaders will also apprise the farmers about the achievements of the previous Samajwadi Party government in the state and the welfare work done for farmers," he said.

Chaudhary alleged that the BJP governments at the Centre and in the state were working towards destroying farmers.

"It is an irony that the 'annadata' (provider of food) are shivering in the cold and want to talk, but the Prime Minister is busy with his 'Mann ki Baat'," he said.

The SP has been aggressively pursuing its agitation against the Centre's three controversial farm laws.

Since December 7, it has been taking out 'Kisan Yatras' in which party workers and leaders across the state, are moving out on foot, bicycles and motorcycles to 'educate' farmers about the anti-farmer policies of the BJP.

"The rallies are against the BJP's anti-farmer policy and are being taken out in each and every district," the party spokesman said.

The BJP has been holding 'Kisan Sammelans' across the state and its leaders are addressing these events to dispel the "misinformation campaign being carried out by the opposition".

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has addressed farmers' issues in all his public functions, while Uttar Pradesh BJP President Swatantra Dev Singh is also touring the state, holding meetings with farmer groups.
