New Delhi [India], Feb 25 : Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday said that stringent action will be taken against those found guilty of fanning violence in North-East Delhi yesterday, where seven persons including one head constable lost their lives during violent clashes amid protests against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

"We will take strict action against people involved in the violence in Delhi yesterday. From the past two months, there was a dharna but the Centre gave a chance for conducting peaceful demonstrations and protests. Yesterday's violence cannot be tolerated," he said.

The Union Minister also urged the political parties to maintain peace over the issue till the time United States President Donald Trump is in the country.

"Today the US President is in Delhi. I request the political parties to respect it. There can be talks regarding any issue," he added.

He also slammed the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi for alleging that the Delhi Police sided with "rioters" to pelt stones, saying, "he has made the statement irresponsibly" and added, "Owaisi had given such provocative statements in the past."

Seven persons lost their lives in the clashes that took place yesterday after protests related to the CAA took a violent turn at various places in the North-East District of Delhi. Over 100 have also been injured in the clashes.
