Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], April 1 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday participated in the 'Aabhaar' rally organised by the Uttarakhand Urban Local Bodies Employees Joint Front at the Mukhya Sevak Sadan located at the Chief Minister's Camp Office.

CM Dhami expressed his appreciation for the respect shown by the employees, as he dedicated it to the people of the state, whom he described as "divine."

The Chief Minister said, "Employees play a crucial role in the development of any state, and the responsibilities of urban local body workers are particularly significant."

He noted that it is due to their relentless efforts that cleanliness and essential civic services in cities and towns are maintained smoothly. He also praised their dedication and service during the COVID-19 pandemic, calling it an exemplary display of humanity.

He further stated that Uttarakhand holds great importance from the perspectives of faith, culture, and tourism, making the role of urban local bodies even more critical - especially during major events such as the Char Dham Yatra, Kanwar Yatra, and Kumbh. He assured that the state government is giving top priority to the empowerment, safety, and satisfaction of employees, and is working with sensitivity to address their concerns, with positive decisions being taken in a phased manner.

The Chief Minister highlighted several key decisions taken in the interest of urban local body employees and sanitation workers. These include increasing the daily honorarium of sanitation workers to Rs 500, providing additional allowances to employees working in Char Dham areas, financial assistance of Rs 2,500 for uniforms and snow boots, provisions for health and welfare schemes, implementation of Rs 5 lakh group term life insurance, and ensuring EPF and ESI benefits.

Additionally, the salary of contractual employees has been increased from Rs 7,500 to Rs 15,000, along with several other measures.

He also mentioned that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government is driving large-scale development through initiatives such as the Swachh Bharat Mission, AMRUT, Smart Cities Mission, and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The state government, he said, is effectively implementing these schemes to accelerate overall development.

The Chief Minister added that sanitation workers are being honored as 'Swachhata Mitras', and initiatives like the Namaste Scheme and Ayushman Bharat Yojana are being implemented to ensure their safety and welfare.
