West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has sustained "severe bony injuries" on her left foot and ankle as well as bruises and injuries on her shoulder, forearm and neck, according to the report of her initial medical examination.

The alleged attack on Mamata on Wednesday, when the pre-poll polls showed a trend in favor of Trinamool, is likely to put Mamata's party behind.

Mamta's injury was examined by X-ray and MRI. An MRI scan revealed that she had injured her right shoulder, forearm and neck. The heel of the left foot is fractured and plaster has been applied. Doctors have advised Mamata to rest for the next month and a half. This indicates that Mamata's campaign is likely to tke a hit.

Mamata has a fractured leg and will not be able to attend Trinamool Congress rallies. Without the chief minister and party chief presence it isgoing to be difficult for the Tinamool leaders.

The BJP has been giving a good fight to the Trinamool for the last few months and many leaders and MLAs have also joined the party. This is likely to affect Mamata's rallies, propaganda and even if she addresses them digitally.

Election in Nandigram is slated to be held on April 1. An eight-phase election schedule for the 294-seat West Bengal Assembly is set to begin from March 27 and going on till April 29.
