After the heavy rainfall on Thursday (April 2) afternoon, Pune residents are experiencing the problems related to the rainfall such as power outage and traffic jams. Incidents from water inundating various parts of the city to trees being uprooted were reported. As the city roads became waterlogged, drainage chambers and stormwater lines clogged in several locations; this slowed down traffic movement and resulted in severe traffic congestion across the city.

The torrential rain and accompanying storms marked by intense lightning that occurred in the afternoon caused faults (tripping) in numerous Extra High Voltage (EHV) and High Voltage power lines, consequently affecting the electricity supply in many parts of Pune city.  The rainfall, which lasted for approximately an hour, caused trees to fall onto power lines in several places. In other areas, power lines were rendered inoperative after feeder boxes became submerged in water.

Additionally, lightning strikes themselves caused damage to power lines in certain locations. Electricity supply has since been restored in some of these affected areas. In Kothrud, lightning damaged the Kundannagari feeder's protection system, causing a power outage. Supply was rerouted, restoring power, but two transformers remain offline.

A separate Nanded City EHV line trip disrupted power for 30 minutes; service was restored immediately after the rain stopped. Shivajinagar: Power outages affected the University, Khadki, Bavdhan, Baner, and Shivaji Housing Society areas. The University line has been restored.

Pimpri/Bhosari: The Ravet 22 kV line is down, affecting 58 transformers. Mahavitaran is working to restore power via alternative routes.

Parvati: A fallen tree at the old Parvati substation interrupted power. Crews are removing the tree to restore service. Waterlogging interrupted power on the Prayeja and Madhukosh feeders.

Patrols are underway along the Khadakwasla and Shravan feeder lines to identify and repair faults. In Bund Garden, tree branches on overhead lines caused an outage in Vadachiwadi; the Wadia feeder was restored via an alternate route within an hour.

Rasta Peth: The high-voltage line serving Kondhwa and Yewalewadi is damaged, causing power outages in those areas.
