Khandala News: A 26-year-old youth died after falling in  70 to 80 feet deep gorge while taking selfie with a scenic view on Khandala hill. This incident occurred on February 8, 2026, evening when Prajwal Vasant Giri  went to Khandala hill to watch the sunset around 6 to 6:30 in the evening before going to hotel.

According to Maharashtra Times reports, Prajwal Giri had come to Lonavala with his relatives for a walk. They were staying at a hotel there. Before checkin the hotel, everyone went to Khandala hill to watch the sunset in evening. While he was enjoying the view, when his foot suddenly slipped and he fell into a deep ravine. He suffered serious injuries to his head and hand in the accident. 

People nearby tried to help, but unfortunately due to serious injuries he lost his life. Relatives informed the Khopoli police station about the incident. Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Sachin Hire, the police went to the spot and conducted a panchnama.

The case has been transferred to the Lonavala city police station for further investigation. This heartbreaking incident has highlighted how important it is to take care of safety at tourist destinations.
