Authorities in Pune have decided to stop the supply of commercial LPG gas cylinders from Wednesday, March 5, as the supply from Middle East countries are limited amid US, Israel war against Iran. The move has been taken to ensure that the domestic LPG supply remains smooth. According to TV reports, commercial gas cylinder supply has been halted at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) plant in Shikrapur and the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) plant in Chakan in Pune district. Dealers have been instructed not to send vehicles to collect commercial cylinders.
Commercial cylinders are available in various sizes, including 5 kg, 19 kg, 35 kg, 47 kg and 427 kg. These cylinders are mainly used by hotels, restaurants and several industrial units. Dealers of HPCL and BPCL have been instructed not to accept new orders for commercial cylinders. The instructions were issued from the Shikrapur and Chakan plants in Pune district.

Dealers have also been asked not to send vehicles to collect cylinders. Orders for cylinders of 5 kg, 19 kg, 35 kg, 47 kg and 427 kg have been temporarily stopped. The decision could affect the hotel sector and several industries that depend on commercial LPG supply. Officials said that the available stock will be distributed among hotels and industrial users for now. However, no new orders will be processed until further instructions are issued.
