Pune is currently experiencing a maximum temperature of 37°C, with the forecast indicating that this temperature will remain consistent over the next four to five days. The afternoon hours are expected to bring intense heat, prompting senior meteorologist Dr. Anupam Kashyapi to advise citizens to stay indoors during these peak times to avoid heat-related discomfort. In addition to Pune, areas like Shirur and Koregaon Park were the hottest in the state on Sunday, March 2nd.
Over the past two days, both the maximum and minimum temperatures have risen. While the minimum temperature was between 14-15°C, it has now exceeded 17°C. Other cities across the state have also reported high temperatures, including Solapur (37.9°C), Malegaon (37.6°C), Jalgaon (36.2°C), and Ratnagiri (36.9°C). Due to humidity from the south, South Maharashtra is expected to experience hot and humid conditions on March 3rd and 4th. However, a drop in temperature is anticipated in the following 4-5 days as northward winds make their way into the region, according to Dr. Kashyapi.
In recent years, the eastern parts of Pune, especially Magarpatta, Vadgaon Sheri, and Koregaon Park, have seen significant temperature increases. Data indicates these areas are consistently recording the highest temperatures. Experts suggest that local environmental factors might be contributing to this rise in heat.
