The municipal corporation has intensified efforts to recover pending property taxes, despite repeated appeals made through hoardings, auto-rickshaw announcements, and social media campaigns urging citizens to clear their dues. However, as many as 2,03,772 property owners have failed to comply, collectively owing a staggering ₹622.42 crore in unpaid taxes. The civic body has now shifted its focus towards these defaulters as it races against time to meet its revenue targets. With only ten days remaining in the current financial year, authorities are making renewed efforts to ensure maximum tax recovery and improve overall collection performance.

Out of the total registered properties within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limits, 5,60,473 property owners have already paid ₹817.43 crore in taxes. The tax assessment and collection department has set an ambitious target of ₹1,000 crore for the ongoing financial year. To achieve this goal, 18 zonal offices across the city are actively working on tax collection drives. Additionally, the civic body has begun publishing the names of defaulters with outstanding dues exceeding ₹1 lakh in newspapers, aiming to increase accountability and encourage timely payments among citizens.

With the financial year nearing its end, the municipal corporation is taking multiple steps to boost collections in the remaining days. Extra cash counters have been set up across offices to facilitate easy payment, and their working hours have also been extended for public convenience. All divisional tax collection offices will remain open to citizens over the next ten days, operating from 9:45 am to 5:45 pm. Alongside offline options, residents can also pay their property taxes through online platforms, ensuring flexibility and accessibility for all taxpayers during this crucial period.

To further encourage defaulters to clear their dues, the civic body is offering significant relief under its amnesty scheme. Citizens who opt to pay their outstanding property tax in a lump sum within the stipulated period will receive a massive 90% waiver on late payment penalties. This initiative is expected to motivate a large number of defaulters to settle their dues promptly, thereby helping the corporation inch closer to its annual revenue target while providing financial relief to taxpayers burdened by penalties.
