A man has been arrested for allegedly engaging in obscene behavior in front of female students at Savitribai Phule Pune University. The incident took place on Tuesday around 9 p.m. near the university's Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan. Police identified the accused as Anil Vasant Gaikwad, 24, a resident of the university hostel and originally from Kawade Nagar in Navi Sangvi. He was arrested within two hours of the complaint being filed.

According to police, three female students were walking toward the girls’ hostel after having dinner when the accused allegedly behaved in an indecent manner near the Marathi Language Department. Two of the students confronted him, while the third ran to alert a security guard near Ambedkar Bhavan. Before security could respond, the accused fled the scene.

The students reported the incident to university authorities, who later informed the police. After reviewing CCTV footage, officers from Chaturshringi police station tracked down Gaikwad and took him into custody.  Police have registered a case for public obscenity and are conducting further inquiries to determine if he has a history of similar offenses.
