Pune Accident News: A 14-year-old school student died after being run over by a ready-mix concrete (RMC) truck in the Pimpri Chinchwad on Thursday, March 12, 2026. The accident occurred near the Prem Lok Park area on the road connecting Akurdi to Chinchwad village at around 12:30 p.m. The victim, identified as Farookh Tamboli, was a Class 9 student and a resident of Chinchwad.
The boy was cycling along the road when the RMC truck approached from behind and struck him. The impact caused severe injuries, and he died at the scene. CCTV footage of the incident, captured by a nearby camera, has circulated on social media and shows the truck hitting the cyclist from behind.
According to the reports, the truck driver, identified as Nivrutti Uddhav Giri, 49, a resident of Alandi, has been detained and brought to the police station.
The incident occurred close to the premises of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, drawing concern from residents in the area. Police Inspector Datta Chaskar said further investigation into the accident is ongoing.
