Pune Accident News: A 68-year-old cyclist was killed after being hit by a speeding truck at Jedhe Chowk in the Swargate area of Pune on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.  The accident occurred around 9:45 p.m. when Vishwanath Shankar Salunkhe, a resident of Jai Bhavaninagar in the Janta Vasahat area of Parvati foothills, was cycling through Keshavrao Jedhe Chowk.

He sustained serious injuries in the collision and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead before treatment could begin.

Police arrested the truck driver, Dattatraya Yadav More, 35, a resident of Chaukhandi village in Jamkhed taluka of Ahilyanagar district.

A medical examination confirmed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident,.

The complaint was filed at Swargate police station by police constable Netaji Vasudev. Sub-Inspector Kotkar is investigating the case.
