A fatal accident occurred on Thursday night near the Swargate Metro Station, where a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a PMP bus while crossing the road. The deceased has not yet been identified. Following the incident, a case was registered late at night against the bus driver. According to preliminary information, the PMP bus was travelling from Katraj towards Swargate and had just passed the metro station when the mishap took place, leading to panic among people present in the area.
According to police sources, the pedestrian came under the wheels of the bus while attempting to cross the road, resulting in his on-the-spot death. As soon as the information was received, Senior Police Inspector Yashwant Nikam from Swargate Police Station reached the scene to assess the situation. The police have since taken the bus driver into custody and initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
During questioning, the driver informed the police that the pedestrian was running while crossing the road and suddenly came under the rear wheel of the bus. Authorities have also reviewed CCTV footage from the Swargate area to piece together the sequence of events. Efforts are currently underway to establish the identity of the deceased, while further investigation is being carried out by the Swargate Police.
