A case of alleged exploitation of women in the name of spirituality has come to light in Chandoli village in Khed taluka of Pune district. A woman has filed a complaint at Rajgurunagar police station against Navnath Gawli, who is associated with Shivdatta Ashram, accusing him of sexual exploitation. The accused is currently absconding.
According to the complaint, Gawli, who presents himself as a ‘Maharaj’ at the ashram, allegedly exploited women under the pretext of resolving their problems. The victim has alleged that he demanded sexual favours and molested her. The incident was initially not reported due to fear, but was later brought to light. Despite a case being registered, questions are being raised as to why the accused has not yet been arrested. The police are investigating the matter further and teams have been dispatched to search for the accused.
