Pune police paraded two young men on Sunday after they were arrested for public obscenity in Yerwada. The accused, Gaurav Ahuja, 25, of NIBM Road, Kondhwa, and his friend Bhagyesh Oswal, 25, of Market Yard, were taken to the crime scene in Shastrinagar Chowk, where the incident took place.
Two days ago, Ahuja was caught on video urinating in the middle of the road at the busy intersection while under the influence of alcohol. Oswal was in the car with him when the act occurred. He then took the wheel and sped off after making an obscene gesture at the person filming the act.
The video, which went viral on social media, sparked widespread outrage across the state.
Following the incident, Pune police registered a case against both under public obscenity laws. They were arrested and produced in court on Saturday. The court initially remanded them to police custody for one day. After their remand ended, police presented them before the Pune Sessions Court again on Sunday.
The court granted one more day of police custody for Ahuja, while Oswal was sent to judicial custody.
