The family members of a 33-year-old brain-dead auto driver decided to donate his organs, which gave new life to four other patients, including three Pune residents. The auto-rickshaw driver, Dharashiv, suffered from intracranial bleeding and was declared brain-dead by a private hospital in Maharashtra's Solapur on March 31.

According to the doctor, Pallavi Mehta, Dharashiv's death was caused by accelerated hypertension, which was previously undiagnosed. He was declared brain-dead, and his wife and mother then decided to donate his organs. After they consented, his two kidneys, liver and lungs were retrieved and allocated according to the ZTCC guidelines.
