Incidents of chain snatching are reportedly on the rise, raising concerns about public safety, especially in crowded marketplaces. A recent CCTV video has brought fresh attention to the issue after capturing a shocking theft in broad daylight. The footage shows a young woman cleverly stealing a gold chain from a little girl at a busy vegetable market. The incident has sparked debate online about safety and awareness. Authorities have repeatedly advised citizens to remain vigilant, particularly when wearing gold ornaments in public spaces where miscreants may look for easy targets amid heavy crowds and distractions.

The video, recorded at a local vegetable market, shows several women gathered around a cart purchasing vegetables. Among them stands a young woman who appears to be an ordinary customer. She is seen pretending to examine tomatoes and engaging casually in the buying process, blending seamlessly with other shoppers. Nothing about her behavior initially raises suspicion. The market appears routine and peaceful, with vendors busy selling produce and customers bargaining over prices. However, within moments, the seemingly harmless shopper executes a swift and calculated move that leaves bystanders completely unaware of what has just occurred.

As the opportunity arises, the young woman discreetly pulls out a pair of scissors and quickly cuts the gold chain from the neck of a small girl standing near the cart. The child remains unaware, and before her mother can sense anything unusual, the accused calmly walks away from the spot and disappears into the crowd. The entire act takes only seconds. The precision and confidence with which she carries out the theft have stunned viewers online. The incident highlights how easily thieves can exploit crowded public places and distracted guardians to commit crimes without immediate detection.

The CCTV footage was later shared on social media platform Twitter by an account named @KUNDANOOPATEL, where it quickly went viral, crossing over 58,000 views and receiving hundreds of reactions. The caption described the accused as a young woman who turned out to be a thief, leaving the child’s chain missing. Social media users expressed concern and anger, urging parents to avoid taking children into crowded markets wearing jewellery. Many emphasized that vigilance is the only real safeguard, reminding the public to stay cautious and alert at all times.
