A four to five-day-old, decomposed body was discovered in a locked house in Nehrunagar, Pimpri near Pune, on Friday (March 21) around 11:30 am. The deceased has been identified as Sameer Balkrishna Shelar (41), a resident of Prajwal Housing Society, Nehrunagar.

According to Senior Inspector Gorakh Kumbhar of Sant Tukaram Nagar Police Station, Sameer Shelar was living alone after his wife left him. On Friday morning, a foul smell emanating from his house raised suspicion, prompting his relatives to alert the police by dialing 112. Upon reaching the spot, the Sant Tukaram Nagar Police found the house locked from the inside. They forcibly broke open the door and discovered Shelar’s decomposed body inside.

The body was sent for an autopsy at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital, Pimpri, but the exact cause of death remains undetermined. The viscera have been preserved for further forensic analysis to ascertain the cause of death.
