Pune, Maharashtra (February 16, 2025): A heated argument over a dinner bill between two container drivers in Pune escalated into a deadly confrontation on Thursday evening. One driver, enraged after being slapped, killed the other by running over him with a container.

The deceased, Parmeshwar Balaji Devaraya, 35, from Nanded, was allegedly killed by Ram Datta Puri, 25, from Shirur in Pune district. Ramchandra Shivram Pole, 44, from Chakan, lodged the complaint with the police.

According to reports, the three men were working as drivers for Santosh Panchudkar’s container company. On Thursday evening, Parmeshwar and Ram arrived at Ganesh Warehouse to unload goods. Afterward, they went for dinner with Ramchandra at a hotel near Pune-Nagar road.

An argument broke out between Parmeshwar and Ram over the dinner bill. The dispute escalated when Parmeshwar slapped Ram on the cheek. In retaliation, Ram allegedly drove his container over Parmeshwar’s body, saying he would not leave him alive.

After the incident, Ram hit several parked vehicles before fleeing the scene. He was later apprehended after being chased by witnesses and taken to Lonikand police station. Ram was arrested, and further investigation is being conducted by Sub-Inspector Vaijnath Kedar at Wagholi Police Station.
