Pune, Maharashtra (March 5, 2025): A woman was cheated of ₹29.97 lakh after being promised a job abroad. The accused took money from her under various pretexts, including registration fees, verification charges, visa fees, and other formalities, but never provided the promised employment. The fraud took place between November 26, 2023, and March 2025 in Nehrunagar, Pimpri.

A case has been registered against Harsh Mishra, Shivansh Patariya, and Avinash Mishra. The 34-year-old woman filed a complaint at Sant Tukaram Nagar Police Station on March 4.

According to police, the accused contacted the woman over the phone. They claimed to have seen her profile on a job portal and offered her a position abroad. Initially, they asked for ₹8,500 as a registration fee. Later, the woman inquired if her father could also get a job overseas. The accused spoke to her father and collected his details.

They then told her that a job was available in the UK. To proceed, they demanded money for registration, document verification, visa processing, conversion charges, company security deposit, ID creation, and insurance. They further claimed that the HR panel in the hiring company had changed and the new members required additional payments.

Later, the accused informed her that the UK job was no longer available and instead offered her a position in Australia. Using various excuses, they continued taking money from her, ultimately defrauding her of ₹29.97 lakh.

Senior Police Inspector Gorakh Kumbhar is leading the investigation
