Pune: Amid the gas shortage across the country, many fraud cases have cane to light were common people got duped. In recent case senior citizen lost Rs. 3.10 lakh while he was attempting to purchase and electric stove online. In connection with this case, the Kothrud police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the cyber fraudsters.
An 81-year-old filed a complaint at the Kothrud Police Station stating he purchased an electric burner advertised on social media due to the gas shortage. Victim contacted the mobile number provided in the advertisement. The cyber fraudsters informed him that the payment for the stove would have to be deposited online.

They then proceeded to obtain his bank account details. Misusing this information, the fraudsters transferred ₹3.10 lakh from the senior citizen's bank account to another account. Upon realizing that he had been defrauded, he recently lodged a complaint with the police. Senior Police Inspector Sandeep Deshmane is currently conducting further investigations into this case.
