Pune Municipal Corporation Election Results 2026: The Congress made a strong showing in the Pune Municipal Corporation elections as former mayor Prashant Jagtap won a decisive victory in Ward No. 18(D). Jagtap defeated BJP candidate Abhijeet Shivarkar in a closely fought contest, giving Congress its first win in the city.
Jagtap, a former city president and ex-mayor with the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction), contested the polls on a Congress ticket and won by a margin of 1,800 votes. His victory is seen as politically significant, as he had strongly opposed an alliance between his former party and the Ajit Pawar faction before joining Congress just before the polls.

The result also marked a setback for BJP veteran and former state minister Balasaheb Shivarkar, whose son Abhijeet Shivarkar joined BJP shortly before the election and was fielded against Jagtap. However, Jagtap won convincingly on his home ground.
The outcome was mixed for the Jagtap family. While Prashant Jagtap celebrated his victory, his mother and senior leader Ratnaprabha Jagtap is facing defeat, with the BJP candidate leading in her ward.
