Pune, Maharashtra (January 19, 2026): A case has been registered against newly elected Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator Suraj Lokhande for taking out a victory procession without permission in the Janta Vasahat area. Police constable Katkar filed a complaint at Parvati police station.
According to the police, the results of the municipal corporation election were declared on Friday (January 17). NCP candidate Suraj Lokhande won from the Janta Vasahat area after a closely fought contest. Following his victory, a procession was taken out in the area at around 7.30 pm.
However, a ban had been imposed on victory processions in the city after the declaration of results. Lokhande has been booked for violating police orders. According to media reports, Lokhande sought permission for a victory procession, but police denied the request. He then informed the police that he would visit households individually instead. Despite this, he allegedly gathered 100–150 people in Jay Bhavani Nagar, Janta Vasahat, and carried out a procession.
NCP candidate Suraj Lokhande won from Ward No. 28, Janta Vasahat, by a margin of 228 votes, defeating BJP candidate Vinaya Prasad Bahulikar.
