Pune News: Father Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Sexually Abusing Minor Daughter

Otur: A father has sentenced a life imprisonment by additional district and sessions court, Junnar for sexually abusing his minor daughter. This shocking incident occurred backed in December 19, 2020, within the jurisdiction of the Otur Police Station. During her school's recess, the 9-year-old girl returned home for lunch. Taking the opportunity when no one else was present in the house, her father locked the door, physically assaulted her, and subjected her to sexual abuse.

Upon discovering this incident, the girl's mother immediately lodged a complaint at the Otur Police Station. Consequently, a case was registered against the accused, Rajesh Ramdas Navale, charging him with rape, assault, and offenses under the POCSO Act. Recognizing the gravity of the crime, the then-Acting Police Inspector, P. H. Kamble, personally took charge of the investigation and arrested the accused.

During the course of the investigation, strong evidence was gathered against the accused, and a chargesheet was subsequently filed in court. Special Judge S. B. Shelar found the accused guilty under the POCSO Act and sentenced him to rigorous life imprisonment along with a fine of ₹10,000. Additionally, under Section 323 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), he was sentenced to one year of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹1,000.
