An incident has come to light in which the directors of the Poona Club, located in the Camp area, were allegedly threatened and pressured to immediately complete a transaction related to a petrol pump. In connection with the case, the Koregaon Park police have registered an offence against BJP spokesperson and office-bearer of the city’s petrol dealers’ association, Ali Daruwala, along with two others. A 47-year-old woman has lodged a complaint at the Koregaon Park police station.
The complainant is a director of the prestigious Poona Club in the Camp area and resides at Meera Society on Shankarsheth Road. According to the police, on the evening of January 30, she was leaving the parking area near the swimming pool of Poona Club in her car to return home. At that time, Ali Daruwala arrived there along with two associates. They allegedly blocked her way by parking their car in front of hers.
The complaint states that Daruwala and his associates intimidated her and insisted that a petrol pump deal linked to a person named Golva be completed immediately. Initially, the case was registered at the Bund Garden police station, but considering the location of the incident, it was later transferred to the Koregaon Park police station for further investigation. The probe is underway and is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Somnath Handal, senior police inspector Vijaykumar Doke said. Meanwhile, Ali Daruwala has denied the allegations, claiming that it was merely a misunderstanding related to a business transaction.
