Pune: Rain, Hailstorm Lash Parts of City, Bring Relief From Scorching Heat (VIDEO)
Pune Rain Hailstorm: Parts of Pune witnessed a sudden change in weather on Wednesday evening as rain and hail hit the city after days of persistent heat. The shift began shortly after 5 p.m. when overcast skies gave way to a brief but intense spell of rain. Localities such as Kothrud, Karve Nagar and Shivajinagar reported hail, an unusual sight that caught many residents off guard.

The spell lasted less than an hour but was enough to bring immediate relief. Streets cooled down, and the drop in temperature was noticeable across affected areas. Residents, who had been dealing with humid conditions through the week, stepped out as the weather turned pleasant. Rainfall was also recorded in Pimpri-Chinchwad during the same period.
The India Meteorological Department had indicated the possibility of rainfall activity in western Maharashtra during this week. Earlier days saw only patchy showers, but Wednesday’s spell covered more parts of the city.
Similar weather activity, including hail, has been observed in parts of Pune earlier this month. Reports of hail in districts such as Sangli and Kolhapur in recent days point to a wider pattern across the region. According to reports, intermittent rain and thunderstorm activity are expected to continue in the coming days.
