A 26-year-old lady was raped aboard a Shivshahi bus at Pune's Swargate ST bus stop in a startling event. Under the guise of directing the victim to her actual bus, the accused led her into the parked bus on February 26 at approximately 5:45 AM. Speaking on this issue Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan said that the incident is extremely concerning and the government is taking it seriously and CM Devendra Fadnavis ordered strict action against the culprit.
He said, “The government is taking this matter very seriously. The incident, where a girl was assaulted inside a bus, is extremely concerning. The government has taken this issue very seriously... The Chief Minister has ordered strict action.”
The police stated that the woman who works in Pune was traveling to Phaltan and was waiting for her bus at the bus station. The accused approached her and initiated a conversation, gained her trust, and then lured her into the bus. On learning that she was traveling to Phaltan via bus he said that the bus was parked elsewhere and said that he would guide her to the spot.
When she arrived at the empty and dark bus parked at the station, the accused told her that the lights were out because the passengers were asleep inside. As she entered and checked with the torch on her phone, the accused followed her, shut the door, and then sexually assaulted her.
A complaint has been filed against the accused by the woman. Police saw the CCTV footage and are looking for the culprit.
