Pune Road Accident: Two Devotees Dead, 11 Injured in Head-On Collision Near Jejuri

Two devotees lost their lives and 13 others were injured when a tempo carrying pilgrims to the Khandoba Yatra in Jejuri met with an accident on Saswad Road near Belsar village. The injured are receiving treatment at a private hospital in Jejuri, local police said.

The deceased have been identified as Jitendra Gyanoba Totre, 35, from Kurwandi in Ambegaon and Ashabai Balkrishna Jare, 50, from Jarewadi in Khed.

The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when the tempo, carrying 15 devotees from Kurwandi village, collided with another tempo coming from the opposite direction. The impact resulted in the immediate deaths of the two victims.

Villagers and Jejuri police rushed to the scene after being alerted. The injured were taken to a private hospital for treatment.

A case has been filed against the tempo driver for causing the accident. Assistant Police Inspector Deepak Wakchoure is overseeing the investigation.
