A shocking incident has come to light in the Nana Peth area of Pune, where a 15-year-old girl delivered a baby by herself while she was alone at home. A case has been registered at Samarth Police Station, and the accused, who exploited the minor on the pretext of marriage, has been arrested.
According to the police, the victim lost her father in her childhood. Her mother remarried, and the girl and her brother stayed at their maternal aunt’s house in Nana Peth. As the family members would go out for work, she was often alone at home.

On January 31, the victim’s married elder sister visited their mother's house. She noticed bloodstains on the floor and in the kitchen. Growing suspicious, she searched the house and found a newborn baby near a window. When questioned, the victim admitted that she had delivered the baby on her own and had cut the umbilical cord herself. When the family returned in the evening, they decided to keep the matter hidden to avoid social stigma.
Later that day, the victim’s condition worsened. She and the newborn were rushed to a private hospital. However, due to the high cost of treatment, they returned home. When her condition deteriorated again, both were admitted to a hospital in the Camp area.

According to the complaint, the girl had been in a relationship with Adil Farooq Sheikh (24) for a year. In March 2025, he had sexual relations with her on the pretext of marriage, leading to the pregnancy.
A case has been registered against the accused under the POCSO Act for having sexual relations with a minor despite knowing her age. Samarth Police Station has arrested the accused, and further investigation is underway.
