A 15-year-old girl gave birth to her child while alone at home in Pune's Nana Peth area, in a startling episode that has come to light. A case has been filed against the accused at Samarth Police Station. The man who assaulted the young girl under false pretences of marriage has been taken into custody. The victim's father passed away when she was a young girl, the police said. Her mother then got married again. The girl and her brother resided in Nana Peth at the home of their maternal aunt. She was frequently alone at home because the family members left for work.
The victim's older sister, who is married, had visited her mother's home. She saw bloodstains on the kitchen floor and on the house floor. She got suspicious and searched the entire house and discovered a newborn baby in the window. The victim admitted to cutting the umbilical cord and giving birth herself after being questioned about it. In the evening, when the family got home, they made the decision to keep the conversation indoors in order to avoid social shame.
The victim's condition unexpectedly worsened that same day. She was taken right away to a private hospital with the baby. But they went back home because the treatment was so expensive. Both of them were later admitted to a hospital in the camp area after their health worsened once again.
But the whole affair came to light when her older sister took her into confidence and asked questions. She had been dating 24-year-old Adil Farooq Sheikh for a year. He had intercourse with her under the guise of marriage in March 2025 and she got pregnant. The accused has been charged under the POCSO Act for having intercourse with the girl despite being aware that she was a minor. The accused has been taken into custody by Samarth Police Station officers, and an inquiry is currently in progress.
