A shocking incident took place in Pune where a 25-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly drugging her friend and stealing gold jewellery worth Rs. 5.46 lakh from her residence. According to complaint filed by a 31-year-old woman, the two had been close friends since their unmarried days when they shared a room in Sadashiv Peth. While the complainant is currently pursuing a course, the accused had been preparing for competitive exams. Post-marriage, the complainant settled in Ambegaon Budruk and the accused in nearby Ambegaon Pathar, but they remained in touch and often visited each other.
On the day of the incident, around 4 p.m., the accused visited the complainant’s home with cold coffee, in which she allegedly mixed medicine meant for gout to render her unconscious. Once the complainant passed out, the accused stole jewelry from the cupboard, amounting to over Rs 5 lakh in value. The theft came to light a few days later when the complainant noticed the missing ornaments. Upon confronting her friend, the accused initially confessed and promised to return the jewellery but failed to do so. This prompted the complainant to lodge a complaint with the local police.
