Pune, Maharashtra ( Tuesday, March 17, 2026): Three people were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a cruiser vehicle and a truck on the Pune–Solapur National Highway on Tuesday morning. The accident occurred around 8:45 a.m. near Loni Devkar village limits. The deceased were identified as Pramod Balasaheb Khawale (28), a resident of Madanwadi in Indapur taluka; Shashank Kotiya (32), from Gautam Nagar, Gird, Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh; and Vijaysingh Rajput (35), also from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

According to preliminary information, the white cruiser (MH 14 LB 1663), which was on its way to pick up workers from the Loni Devkar industrial area, suffered a sudden burst of its front right tyre. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which crossed the road divider and entered the opposite lane.

The vehicle then collided head-on with a truck (MH 12 YQ 6603) heading toward Solapur. Following the impact, the truck also crossed the divider and pushed the cruiser toward the side of the highway, worsening the severity of the crash. All three victims died on the spot in the collision.

On receiving information, a team from the highway assistance center rushed to the spot. With the help of a crane and hydra, the damaged vehicles were removed from the road and traffic was restored.

Police in Indapur have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
