A phone addiction specially among the teen has become concern for the parents. A 16-year-old girl took extreme step after her her father checked her mobile phone. She consumed poison on March 17, 2026. This incident occurred at Jadhavwadi in Chikhali, she died during the treatment on March 22, 2026.
The student who committed suicide has been identified as Pratiksha Anil Gaikwad. According to Senior Inspector Vitthal Salunke of the Chikhali Police Station, Pratiksha's father checked her mobile phone on March 17. Nothing objectionable was found in the device.
However, driven by the distress caused by her father checking her phone, Pratiksha consumed poison inside her home around 9:00 PM on the same day. As soon as her family members realized what had happened, she was immediately rushed to a hospital.

She succumbed to her condition on Sunday, March 22 while undergoing treatment. A post-mortem examination was conducted at the Municipal Corporation's Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Pimpri. Subsequently, her body was handed over to her relatives.
