Despite assurances from the Canal Committee that Pune would not face water shortages or cuts, several areas, including Vadgaon Sheri, Erandwane, Gokhalenagar, Model Colony, and Vadgaon Khurd, are experiencing severe water scarcity for the past several days. While some areas receive full-time water supply, inadequate pressure prevents tanks from filling, raising concerns that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has imposed unannounced water cuts even before summer sets in.

BJP spokesperson Sandeep Khardekar has lodged a complaint with Rajendra Bhosale, demanding immediate restoration of water supply. He pointed out that Kothrud, particularly Erandwane, has been facing irregular and low-pressure water supply. Normally, water is available until 9 AM, but for the past few days, the supply has been shutting off an hour earlier at 8 AM.

PMC officials said that water inflow from the Pahari water station has reduced. Instead of the usual 4,100 cubic meters per hour, the station is currently supplying only 3,800 cubic meters per hour. This has led to uneven distribution, with some areas experiencing low pressure. Khardekar has urged the civic commissioner to clarify whether these are undeclared water cuts. If no explanation is provided, he has warned of launching a "Handa March" protest against the PMC's functioning.

Water shortages have also hit areas like Gokhalenagar, Janwadi, Vadarwadi, and Model Colony, where residents report disrupted supply for over eight days. Even when water arrives at night, from 8 PM to 1 AM, low pressure prevents tanks from filling completely, forcing residents to stay up late for water collection.

Meanwhile, residents of a PMC-constructed society under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Vadgaon Khurd have faced reduced water supply for three days. The main tank is not filling completely, affecting 1,100 flats across eight buildings. To manage the crisis, residents are rationing water usage.

Multiple complaints regarding water supply issues have emerged from across the city. Authorities have scheduled a meeting to address the problem and are working towards restoring normal supply.
