Pune, Maharashtra (March 10, 2025): A young man suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a group of men during India's Champions Trophy victory celebrations near Jangli Maharaj Road late Sunday night. The attack happened as fans across Maharashtra celebrated India's four-wicket win against New Zealand in Dubai.

Cricket enthusiasts flooded the streets of Pune after India secured its third Champions Trophy title. Thousands gathered on Fergusson College Road, waving posters of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Fans burst firecrackers and played drums in celebration. However, the atmosphere turned violent near Jangli Maharaj Road when the attack took place.

According to the media reports, group of five to six men assaulted the victim using knives, belts and stones. The injured man was taken to a hospital and is undergoing treatment. Police have detained one suspect and are searching for the others. A case has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing.
