Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune has been accused of prioritizing money over patient care after the death of a seven-month pregnant woman. Tanisha Bhise, 27, died on March 29 after her family alleged that the hospital refused treatment due to non-payment. The incident has sparked outrage across Maharashtra. The Maharashtra State Women's Commission took note of the case. On Friday, Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar met Bhise’s family and assured them that the hospital would be held accountable. She stated that the hospital was at fault and action would be taken against those responsible.

In a major development, Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas has resigned from Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital. The hospital accepted his resignation after facing criticism and concerns about its reputation. The administration confirmed receiving his resignation.

Dr. Ghaisas was accused of demanding an advance payment of Rs10-20 lakh before starting treatment for Bhise. Her family said they were ready to pay Rs 3 lakh, but the hospital refused to treat her. They had to take her to another hospital, where she passed away.
