The girl's mother died at the hospital on May 16 due to Covid 19. Hrithiksha, a resident of Kushalnagar, has written the letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu, MLA and staff of District Covid 19 Hospital. The girl said in the letter that she and her parents had tested covid positive. As her mother's health deteriorated, they admitted her to Madikeri Covid Hospital for treatment. Her father is a daily wage worker. During this tough times they are living with the help of their neighbors. My mother passed away on May 16. Someone at the hospital took her mother's mobile phone. "I lost my mother, I became an orphan. That phone has many memories of my mother", she wrote. Therefore, she has requested that whoever took her phone should return it to her.
Hrithiksha's father Naveen Kumar said, "My wife TK Prabha passed away on May 16 due to corona. Her belongings were then handed over to us but mobile phone was missing. We tried to call her number but that number is coming switch off. My daughter has been crying a lot since she didn't have her phone. That phone had photos of many memories of our family. There are videos. She had attended an online class using her mother's mobile. There is nothing that I can do about it. We can't find the phone, and I can't afford a new one," said her father.
Meanwhile, a letter written by this 9-year-old girl went viral on social media. Many users appealed to the police to take action in this case. Replying to a tweet, Karnataka DG and IGP Praveen Sood said, "Our team is on the job. But too many people claiming or working on it does not help the cause. We will do our best to trace."
