Hotels frequently have trouble with visitors stealing free amenities, but one hotel in Mumbai has devised a delightfully ingenious method to stop slipper theft. The hotel handed guests mismatched shoes instead of matching bathroom slippers so that, although they can be used while visiting, they are much less likely to be taken home.

According to reports, the hotel was situated in Mumbai. An olive-green and an orangish brown pair of flip-flops were positioned in front of the bathroom door in a picture taken during the visit.

Thejaswi Udupa, an X user, amused internet users by sharing this intriguing hotel hack on social media. He posted a picture of the two pairs of footwear and wrote, “This Bombay hotel provides bathroom slippers. But to ensure people don't flick them, they provide mismatched pairs.”

The picture showed both pairs of shoes neatly arranged on a dark grey bath mat with the words "AKINT" embroidered in red. It was obvious from the strange combination that these slippers were primarily intended for comfort in the room.

The social media site has seen a wide spectrum of responses to this incident, which has gone viral.

A user commented, “I would totally flick these. They are not totally mismatched. Like #totally.”

Another wrote, “I don’t know. That hunter green and the tan kind of go well together.”

Another user commented about IIT Students wearing mismatched pairs. He wrote, “won't work for iit students of the 80s and 90s -- they pride on mismatched slippers!”

Another user praising the move wrote, “Innovative thinking at its finest!

Hospitality meets reverse psychology!”
