Uttarakhand farmer enters Guinness Book of World Records for growing tallest coriander plant

While the entire country is facing the coronavirus crisis, a 47 year old farmer Gopal Dutt Upreti from Uttarakhand has got his name featured in Guinness Book of World Records. 

He has made a world record for growing world’s tallest coriander plant with a height of 7.1 feet (2.16 metre) using traditional Himalayan farming techniques.

The length of the plant was recorded by Almora's Chief Horticulture Officer TN Pandey and Uttarakhand Organic Board Ranikhet Majkhali in-charge and plant pathologist Devendra Singh Negi and Horticulture in-charge Billekh Ram Singh Negi.

Gopal Dutt Upreti also grows organic apples over his four-acre farm in Bilkesh village of Ranikhet area in Almora district, said after he succeeded in growing over seven feet coriander plant, he had applied for the recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records in April.
