A video making rounds on social media has ignited a discussion about civic behaviour on public transport after a group of women were filmed singing and dancing inside a Vande Bharat Express coach, reportedly disturbing other passengers. The clip, widely shared online, has drawn mixed reactions from viewers, with many questioning whether such conduct is appropriate in a confined, shared travel environment. The incident has once again brought attention to how individuals behave in public spaces, particularly in premium transport services where comfort and discipline are expected from all travellers.

As per the footage posted by the Instagram account ‘chakachak’, the women were seen occupying the aisle of the train coach, singing loudly and dancing, while co-passengers appeared uneasy and inconvenienced. The visuals capture the group standing in the narrow passage, leaving little to no room for movement and effectively obstructing the pathway. Several passengers in the background can be seen reacting to the situation, suggesting discomfort caused by the noise and lack of space within the coach during the journey.

The individual who uploaded the video labelled the experience as a “2-hour nightmare”, claiming that the group had blocked access to both the aisle and the washrooms. The caption further emphasised that such actions could create serious difficulties, especially for elderly travellers or those who may need to move frequently inside the coach. It pointed out how behaviour like this, while seemingly harmless to some, could significantly impact the overall travel experience of others sharing the same space.

Highlighting wider concerns, the caption questioned the absence of civic responsibility in public settings, stating, “When will we learn that public space requires public sense?” It also drew attention to what it described as a mismatch between infrastructural advancement and public behaviour. “The Premium Paradox: We are upgrading our trains to world-class standards, but the ‘Public Sense’ remains outdated. Infrastructure can be bought; manners must be learned,” the post read, resonating with many users online.

Although Vande Bharat Express trains are marketed as a premium mode of travel offering superior comfort and efficiency, such incidents have sparked conversations across social media regarding passenger etiquette and mutual respect. Many users have shared their opinions on maintaining decorum in shared environments, especially in settings where space is limited and cooperation among passengers is essential for a smooth journey.

The episode highlights a recurring concern frequently discussed in urban contexts — the need to strike a balance between personal expression and collective responsibility. As India continues to upgrade and modernise its public transport infrastructure, the importance of civic sense and appropriate behaviour remains crucial to ensuring a pleasant and respectful commuting experience for everyone.
