After Artificial Intelligence (AI) entered human life it is claimed that the life will be easy, specifically for the people working in IT companies, but the world has witnessed another side of AI, where several companies also laid off their workers after generative AI performed all the basics. A multinational technology consulting company, Accenture, had sacked 11,000 of its employees and warned others to develop AI skills for their job security.
The company has formally asked its associate directors and senior management that promotion to the important role is only depend on how efficiently they use AI in their daily work, according to Financial Times. That means not using AI in their daily work will not be promoted to the upper level.

This comes at a time when India is on the verge of accelerating AI technologies after hosting the India AI Impact Summit 2026, where top global tech firms participated, including ChatGPT parent company OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
Accenture CEO Julie Sweet said, “Companies must be willing to reinvent how they operate their processes, how they've been doing work for the last few decades. Companies have to invest to reshape their workforces.”
Accenture Layoffs 11,000 Workers
Previously, IT company has laid off around 11,000 employees, which it believed could not be "reskilled" with AI. The company has invested over $2 billion in severance packages in the past 3 years alone. The company wants all employees to go all in on AI.
How Does Accenture Monitor Employees' AI Use?
The company monitored its employees by tracking their log-ins to in-house AI tools such as AI Refinery, according to India Today. Accenture wants to track the record of its workers who are efficiently using AI technologies to increase work efficiency.
Accenture CEO Julie Sweet previously described AI Refinery as a platform that will "create opportunities for companies to reimagine their processes and operations." AI Refinery was built in partnership with NVIDIA.
