San Francisco, July 29 Google Cloud and enterprise application software provider SAP SE on Thursday announced a joint initiative to help customers on their journey to the Cloud and accelerate their business transformation.

Google Cloud will be a strategic Cloud partner for the 'RISE with SAP' offering and the two companies will partner to accelerate customers' cloud migrations and business process migrations.

'RISE with SAP' offers a holistic on-your-terms and on-your-timeline transformation to an intelligent enterprise.

"Customers are leveraging RISE to not only accelerate transformation to the cloud, but to also lead in industries and empower their sustainable future. This expanded partnership with Google Cloud will give customers in the region more choice as they embark on business transformation in the cloud and innovate with speed, scale and agility," said Paul Marriott, President, SAP in Asia Pacific Japan.

In addition, customers can also benefit from the planned global availability of multiple SAP services and products on Google Cloud's reliable, scalable cloud infrastructure and high-speed network, including the SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Data Warehouse Cloud solutions within SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).

"Wipro, Ocean Network Express and Siam Cement Group and many more in APAC have embraced digital transformation at speed and scale and moved to S/4HANA running in Google Cloud," said Karan Bajwa, Vice President, Google Cloud in Asia Pacific.

"We look forward to partnering with SAP on RISE to help even more organisations in the region accelerate the migration of their most critical business systems into the cloud," he added.

In the June quarter, Google Cloud revenue was $4.63 billion, up from $3.01 billion a year ago. The Google Cloud business witnessed operating losses of $591 million, a solid improvement from $1.43 billion loss last year.
