With the help of this new feature, users and creators will be able to 'edit' their comments even after they have been posted. Often, a user might accidentally type an incorrect comment on a post. Instagram's new feature will make it much easier to rectify such errors. Users will now be able to correct 'spelling mistakes' or any other errors within their comments.
This feature released by Instagram will be available for a limited window of just 15 minutes. This means users will only be able to edit a comment within 15 minutes of posting it. Instagram intends to use an 'Edited' tag to maintain transparency on the platform. If a user edits their comment, other viewers will be able to see that the comment has been modified.
Rules for Updating Comments:
- Users have a 15-minute window to edit a comment.
- Within this 15-minute period, a user can edit the comment as many times as they wish.
- The editing facility applies only to 'text' content.
- If a comment contains a photo or other media, that specific content cannot be edited.
- An 'Edited' tag will appear on any comment that has been modified.
How to Edit a Comment?
Editing a comment on an Instagram post is extremely simple. To do so, the user simply needs to tap and hold on their comment for a moment. Subsequently, several options will appear on the screen, from which the user must select the 'Edit' option. By clicking on this, you can correct your erroneous comment. Once the comment has been edited, the 'Edited' tag will become visible on it. Importantly, after you edit a comment, no user will be able to see your original comment.
